Are you planning a trip to Las Vegas? Make sure to check the weather before you go! Las Vegas is known for its hot and dry climate, but Las Vegas weather can vary greatly depending on the time of year. 

From strong winds and high temperatures in the summer to cold temperatures (and possible snow) in the winter, it’s essential to know what to expect when visiting Las Vegas. 

In this blog post, I’ll discuss what you should expect from the Las Vegas weather during your trip. We’ll cover topics such as temperature ranges, wind speeds, humidity levels, etc. 

With this information, you’ll be ready for whatever Mother Nature throws your way during your stay in Las Vegas!

What is Las Vegas weather like?

Las Vegas is known for its hot and dry desert climate. However, temperatures in Vegas change dramatically depending on the time of year.

In the winter, temperatures range from the mid-50°s to 60°s, while in the summer, they can reach up to 115°F.

The city experiences strong winds throughout the year, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph during windstorms–which can impact your plans. The Bellagio FountainsMirage Volcano, and pool decks will close during high winds.

If you’re visiting Las Vegas for an outdoor activity, keeping an eye on the wind forecast is essential. In 2022, the first day of the When We Were Young Festival was cancelled due to high winds (I had tickets for the event, but the wind was insane).

Rainfall is relatively rare in Las Vegas, with an average of 4 inches annually.

Las Vegas weather in winter is generally sunny and mild during the day, with average daily high temperatures ranging from 57°F to 67°F. 

Nights tend to be cold, with minimum temperatures often slightly above freezing (39°F). 

There’s always a chance for rain (even snow) during winter, but it’s minimal compared to other cities. Las Vegas averages just above half an inch of rain per month during winter.

Packing warm clothes for the evenings and layers for the days is important.

The weather in Las Vegas starts heating up in the spring. The average highs range from 71°F to 90°F in the spring.

Evenings in the spring tend to be mild but can be pretty chilly in early March, with lows ranging between 49°F and 66°F.

While there’s a chance of rain, it’s unusual. However, wind storms pick up when the air temperature fluctuates. So keep an eye out for wind forecasts.
