The Jabbawockeez are a world-famous hip-hop dance group. They’ve been performing on stage for thousands of people since 2006 when they appeared on America’s Got Talent.

In 2008, they went on to win America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV.

Their list of appearances and accomplishments since then is too extensive, to sum up in one article, but their greatest achievement is arguably their Las Vegas residency.

For over 15 years, the Jabbawockeez have been lighting up the stage with their electric dance moves that guests from all over the world come to Vegas to see.

The group is known for their signature white masks that they wear when they perform, and their original and entertaining moves.

The mystery the white masks creates is intentional for the group—as their goal is for the viewer’s attention to be on the collective group and not on one individual.

The faceless and nameless dancers also use masks to create a sense of inclusion so people of all demographics can connect with the performance and be united in music and dance.

The idea of unity and their breathtaking moves have gained them a massive following and filled the seats at the Jabbawockeez MGM Grand Vegas show.

But you still might be wondering: why the strange name?

The dance crew chose the name “Jabbawockeez,” pronounced Ja-buh-waa-keez, in reference to Lewis Carroll’s famous book, “Through the Looking Glass.”

One of the most popular poems is titled “Jabberwocky” and is a fantastical poem about a creature that wanders the fictional “tulgey wood,” which is a never-ending forest filled with bizarre and mysterious creatures.

The name is on par with the mystery and allure surrounding the members and performances of the Jabbawockeez dance crew.

Don’t expect a dull moment during the show. Dancers are constantly moving to the booming songs, and the artfully designed lights and screens move around and project eye-catching images throughout the theater.

Most of the Jabbawockeez MGM Grand show is too complex to even be put into words and is a production that can only be experienced in person if you wish to experience the full effect.
