Circa Review

Summary: Circa sets the standard for downtown hotels. With amenities including Stadium Swim, two levels of casino gambling, some of the best restaurants downtown like Barry’s Prime Steakhouse or 8 East – it can be hard to imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Downtown Las Vegas.

  • Circa opened in late 2020 and is the newest resort in Downtown Las Vegas
  • Stadium Swim: The best dayclub and pool deck in Downtown Las Vegas features six pools, a 143′ screen, and live DJs.
  • Circa has the best sportsbook in Las Vegas
  • You’ll find some of the best restaurants in downtown like Barry’s Downtown Prime, 8 East, and Saginaw’s

  • Whether you’re booking a room, buying dinner, or getting a coffee, everything at Circa is closer to Strip-pricing
  • As a local, the most annoying thing about Circa are the high parking rates without a validation option

If you’re looking for top-tier comfort and luxury, look no further than Circa Resort & Casino on the Fremont Street Experience. The adults-only luxury resort provides best rooms and suites downtown.

The resort features a year-round pool deck called Stadium Swim with an astonishing 143-foot screen, six pools, and live DJs. The pool also features a casino gambling pit, sports betting kiosks, and multiple bars.

Inside you’ll never be bored. The casino spans two floors and is home to the best sportsbook in Vegas. The atmosphere is exhilarating. You can reserve a seat or a booth or sit for free on either floor.

You can find some of the best restaurants in Downtown Las Vegas at Circa, including Barry’s Downtown Prime, 8 East, and Saginaw’s Delicatessen. I love visiting these restaurants. Pro tip: get the onion rings at Saginaw’s! Make sure to grab a coffee from Jackpots, it’s delicious!

Compared to The Strip, Circa is a tremendous value! You’ll get Strip-quality hotel accommodations for half the price. While the restaurants are more expensive than other downtown spots, the quality is superior.

Circa is a remarkable property that outshines the rest of downtown. The resort has everything you need for an awesome vacation to Sin City. Right outside the front door is the Fremont Street Experience with two stages of free live entertainment.

2. Golden Nugget

Golden Nugget Review

Summary: The Golden Nugget is a luxury hotel in the heart of downtown. The rooms are very nice for downtown. Here you can enjoy a great collection of restaurants, live entertainment, and one of the best pools downtown. It’s one of the best hotels in Downtown Las Vegas.

  • Golden Nugget has a wide range of restaurants means you can find something for everyone
  • Enjoy a variety of live entertainment at the Rush Lounge and Troy Liquor Bar
  • The pool is of the best in Vegas featuring a slide through a shark tank

  • I usually skip The Nugget when I visit downtown simply because the casino gets overcrowded
  • Golden Nugget has a small parking garage and I’ve seen event parking cost $50+

If you are looking for a luxury hotel in Downtown Las Vegas, Golden Nugget is your place. The rooms and suites offer all the amenities that make it feel like home while still feeling luxurious.

Golden Nugget offers luxury accommodations for every type of traveler at affordable prices, staring at $79.

The pool at Golden Nugget is really cool. You can slide through a shark tank or lounge poolside on one of the pool decks. Afterward you can enjoy some live entertainment at the Rush Lounge, Troy Liquor Bar, or catch Gordie Brown‘s show.

You will also find other delicious restaurants including Vic & Anthony’s, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Chart House, Grotto Italian Ristorante, and Cadillac Mexican Kitchen inside this beautiful casino resort. You’ll find everything you could want at Golden Nugget Las Vegas, located in the heart of Fremont Street.

3. The D

The Downtown Party That Never Ends

The D Hotel & Casino
Best Downtown Las Vegas Hotels: The D Hotel & Casino

Room Rate: $39–199+

Hotel Rating: 3.2/5

The D Review

Summary: The D is the life of the party downtown. It’s a great hotel for the money. The casino is one of the most fun in town. Plus, you’ll find great bars and a fantastic steakhouse. There are no live shows or entertainment inside, but just out the main entrance you’ll find the 3rd Street Stage on Fremont Street.

  • Energetic casino
  • Excellent bars including Long Bar and Bar Canada
  • Hotel guests receive two free passes to Circa’s Stadium Swim

  • If you don’t want to party, The D may not be right for you
  • The D only has three restaurants and three bars

The D is a great hotel for people watching and enjoying the atmosphere of Fremont Street including free music at the 3rd Street Stage just outside the main entrance.

For those who want to stay in a modern, comfortable space with all amenities needed, The D is a solid choice. You can enjoy two casino floors with table games, slot machines, and the classic Sigmas Derby horse racing machine.

Hotel guests at The D receive two free passes to Circa’s Stadium Swim, which is between a $40-$80 value!

A couple of my favorite bars in Downtown Las Vegas are at The D including Long Bar, Canada Bar, and Vue Bar. You’ll also be able to enjoy delicious steaks, pasta, bread, and more at one of the best steakhouses downtown at Andiamo Steakhouse.

With its lively atmosphere, great location, and affordable prices, The D is perfect for people who are looking for a good downtown hotel without breaking the bank.

4. Plaza

An Iconic & Innovative Downtown Hotel & Casino

Plaza Hotel & Casino
Best Downtown Las Vegas Hotels: Plaza Hotel & Casino

Room Rate: $39–199+

Hotel Rating: 3/5

Plaza Review

Summary: The Plaza Hotel & Casino is a hidden gem with affordable rooms and innovative amenities. They offer the best gambling odds downtown, great live music at The Sand Dollar Downtown, and lots of laughs at The Comedy Works. Plus, you’ll find Oscar’s Steakhouse, Hash House A Go Go, and more!

  • The casino offers the best odds downtown with low-table minimums. You will also find YouTube’s BC Slots exclusively at Plaza
  • Plaza has a rich history and has been featured in films like James BondBack To The Future, and Casino. Plus it’s the only Las Vegas hotel with a podcast (and it’s terrific!)
  • Satisfy your appetite like the former mayor of Las Vegas at Oscar’s Steakhouse or Hash House A Go Go
  • Get entertained with live standup comedy at The Comedy Works and live music at The Sand Dollar Downtown

  • The vibe at the Plaza casino isn’t my thing. It’s lackluster and leaves something to be desired
  • It’s an old property

If you’re looking for a modern, high-end hotel experience, Plaza Hotel & Casino isn’t the place for you. But if you want an affordable downtown option that offers all of the amenities of a luxury property at an unbeatable price, look no further!

The Plaza is an iconic, old-school Vegas casino with rooms starting at just $39 per night. It’s not as flashy as hotels on The Strip, but it has everything you need for a fun trip to Sin City.

The hotel offers refreshed room, a really nice rooftop pool, and pickleball courts on the corner of Fremont and Main Street in Downtown Las Vegas.

The Plaza Casino offers the best odds downtown with low-table minimums. The casino features Single Zero Roulette, 3:2 Blackjack, and low-table minimums. You will also find YouTube’s BC Slots exclusively at the Plaza.

Toast your night at Oscar’s Steakhouse and grab a bite at Hash House A Go Go. Laugh out loud at The Comedy Works featuring touring standup comics or check out live music at The Sand Dollar Downtown.

5. Four Queens

Budget-Friendly Hotel With No Resort Fees

Four Queens Hotel & Casino
Best Downtown Las Vegas Hotels: Four Queens Hotel & Casino

Room Rate: $49–199+

Hotel Rating: 2.7/5

Four Queens Review

Summary: Four Queens is the best value on Fremont Street with no resort fees. The casino is lively and offers good odds. They offer decent amenities including good restaurants and live entertainment.

  • It’s a budget hotel, the rooms are basic and outdated, but they have a mini-fridge which I found useful
  • There can be long lines at the restaurants

If you’re looking for an affordable place to sleep after a long day in Vegas, Four Queens is a good choice. The no-frills hotel doesn’t charge a resort fee and offers a bed and standard amenities for budget-minded travelers.

Four Queens is all about having a good time. The hotel has two shows. Mike Hammer Comedy Magic made our list of best magic shows in Las Vegas. You can also see Kevin Lepine’s Hypnosis Unleashed. If you’re looking for great food and drinks then Hugo’s Cellar, Magnolia’s Veranda, and Chicago Brewing Company will satisfy your appetite.

The hotel is located in the heart of the Fremont Street Experience right next to the 3rd Street Stage. Like most hotels downtown, it can be loud until 2 AM. Stay in the South Tower if you have the option for a quieter night’s sleep.

I enjoyed my stay at Four Queens. It didn’t break the bank and I found everything satisfactory. But it’s definitely a budget hotel. If you want to visit Las Vegas without being nickel-and-dimed then Four Queens is the right choice for you! The rooms are basic but you’ll be in Vegas!

How We Determined The Best Downtown Las Vegas Hotels

I am a Las Vegas local that visits Downtown Las Vegas frequently. I know the area well and have stayed at many of the hotels in the area. Circa is my favorite casino in Las Vegas. Everything from the sportsbook to Stadium Swim to Saginaw’s hits just right.

I’ve stayed at a few of the hotels in Downtown Las Vegas including Four Queens, Golden Gate, and Plaza all provide great value for basic rooms. Out of those Plaza is the best. All of these hotels are close to the action on Fremont Street and offer good deals on rooms.

Methodology: How We Ranked Downtown Hotels

When ranking the best downtown Las Vegas hotels, I took a variety of factors into account. First and foremost, I looked at value. Downtown hotels are much more affordable than those on The Strip, so it was important to find ones that offered good deals. I also considered location. All of the hotels on my list are within walking distance of the major casinos and attractions. Finally, I looked at amenities. All of the hotels on my list have pools, casinos, and restaurants on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are 12 hotels and casinos downtown. The seven hotels that didn’t make our list of best Downtown Las Vegas hotels have their own charm.

The Downtown Grand has an excellent rooftop pool and is home to the Delirious Comedy Club. In the Fremont East District is the historic El Cortez, a must-see property for anyone visiting downtown.

At Main Street Station, you can grab an impressive beer brewed on property and experience one of the most unique casino floors in Vegas. Across the street is the Hawaiian spirit at California. It is home to historic Craps rolls and coin slot machines.

On Fremont Street, you’ll find great bar specials at the Fremont Hotel. The oldest hotel in Las Vegas is Golden Gate which has an awesome casino vibe in an intimate setting. Binion’s is the birthplace of the World Series of Poker and has an old-school charm like nowhere else.

Regardless of where you stay, Downtown Las Vegas is unlike any other destination in the world.

If you’re looking for value, Fremont Street is the place to be. You’ll find better deals on hotels, food, and entertainment than you will on The Strip. However, if you’re looking for luxury, The Strip is the better option. Sure, it’s more expensive, but you’ll be staying in nicer hotels, eating at better restaurants, and enjoying more amenities. If you’re undecided, why not visit both? Fremont Street is a great place to start your trip. You can explore all the free attractions and then head over to the Strip for a night of fun. Who knows, you might even find that Fremont Street is all you need.

If you’re trying to save money on your vacation, Fremont Street is a great place to stay. There are a lot of hotels and casinos that offer discounts and special deals, so you can find something that fits your budget. In addition, there are a lot of free shows and attractions on Fremont Street, so you can have a great time without spending a lot of money. Of course, if you’re looking for luxury accommodations or nightlife, Fremont Street may not be the right place for you. But if you’re willing to sacrifice a little bit of comfort for a great price, Fremont Street is definitely worth considering.
