Pros
Cons
Plaza Las Vegas is an innovative hotel and casino that is changing the hospitality game in Vegas. They are the only hotel in Las Vegas with a podcast where you can listen to CEO Jonathan Jossel, Marking Manager Lisa Melmed, and Gary Vickery discuss the business and culture of downtown Las Vegas. “On The Corner of Main Street” is worth a listen!
The Plaza Hotel celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021, but don’t let their age fool you. The hotel has been one of the most innovative hotels downtown. The rooms are fresh, clean, and quite enjoyable.
The hotel offers a variety of rooms and suites across two towers. The entry-level Luxe Rooms are cozy rooms that start at $39/night. Two other types of rooms include the Deluxe Rooms and Pool Patio Rooms.
If you want a little more space, the Junior Studios, Mini Suites, One Bedroom Suites, and Luxe Room Suites may be what you’re looking for. For rooms that are almost 1,000 square feet, check out the Two Bedroom Suites and Penthouse Suites.
The hotel amenities include a rooftop pool, pickleball courts, and a fitness center.
The Plaza is a cultural icon. The hotel has been in countless movies and television shows, including the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, Back To The Future as “Biff Tannen’s Pleasure Paradise,” and Casino.
In addition to film, the casino takes its art seriously! There are three incredible murals at Plaza by D*Face, Shepard Fairey, and Faile. These must-see murals span the entire height of the building and are truly amazing works of art.
The Rooftop Pool at Plaza is an awesome deck overlooking Fremont Street and Downtown Las Vegas. The pool deck is a lively space with a live DJ, bar, and vibrant colors. Hotel guests are provided with complimentary towel service.
You can also get an incredible view of the “Behind Closed Doors” mural by D*Face on the pool deck. Cabanas and daybeds are available to rent with low food and beverage minimums as low as $100. Unlike other pools in Las Vegas, you don’t need a fat wallet to live large at Plaza.
Another unique feature of the rooftop pool is the Pickleball Courts. Hotel guests can use the courts for free. If you don’t have your pickleball paddles, you can rent a set for a couple of dollars. The courts also host a variety of pickleball events and competitions throughout the year.
The jewel of Plaza is Oscar’s Steakhouse. Located in the glass dome, Oscar’s overlooks Fremont Street and pays homage to old Vegas. The steakhouse was named after mob attorney and beloved former mayor Oscar Goodman. You will find incredible steaks, delicious sides, and cocktails here, including the mayor’s signature martini. You’ll get a taste of yesteryear with impeccable service and delicious food.
If you have a huge appetite, check out Hash House A Go Go. You’ll find midwestern American fare with a twist. The Vegas-based chain serves up oversized portions of creatively delicious meals. We recommend checking out the chicken and waffles! Hash House also serves up fantastic cocktails that are worth trying.
If you’re looking for something a little more affordable, try Pop Up Pizza. You’ll find hand-tossed pizzas that will please every hungry vacationer. The Plaza is also home to a Coffee Bar, Fresh Mexican Grill, McDonald’s, Subway, and Manchu Wok.
In 2022, a famous local watering hole with incredible live music, The Sand Dollar, opened its second location at the Plaza Las Vegas. The new live music bar features nightly entertainment and great drinks.
If you’re a fan of stand-up comedy, The Comedy Works is for you. Inside the Plaza Showroom, you can see some of the best touring comics like the late Gilbert Gottfried, Nick Di Paolo, Jamie Kennedy, and more. Check their schedule to see who’s performing.
Outside, the Core Arena is home to rodeos. It’s the only permanent outdoor equestrian center downtown. The arena hosts various events throughout the year, including the Las Vegas Days Rodeo and events during the National Finals Rodeo.
The Plaza Casino has the best odds downtown. You will find Single Zero Roulette, 3:2 Blackjack, and great low-minimum tables. Plus, there is an abundance of slot machines, electronic table games, and some of the best video poker downtown.
If you’ve seen BC Slots on YouTube, you know that the Brian Christopher Slots area at Plaza is a unique opportunity to play slot machines like a pro. The collaboration between Plaza and YouTube sensation is a must-see for any fan.
The Bingo Room at Plaza is the only one downtown. The bingo hall is massive! Here, you’ll find some of the best bingo events in all of Las Vegas. The casino is home to a William Hill Sportsbook with betting kiosks and a counter to place bets on all the games. The sportsbook features a decent-sized sitting area with a wall of TVs.
The Plaza Hotel & Casino is a great option for those looking for a good hotel on a budget in downtown Las Vegas. The rooms are of great quality, and the staff is friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Las Vegas.
