As one of the most popular spots in Las Vegas, Luxor is a great place to visit. We’ve compiled this list of frequently asked questions so that you can get answers before your next trip.
Is Luxor a good hotel in Vegas?
Luxor was built in 1993 and has seen multiple renovations throughout the years. The hotel is a great budget option for guests who want access to shows, pools, and things to do on the property–all at an affordable price!
The hotel is also close to the south end of The Strip. You’re a short walk (or free tram ride) from Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, but it’s not too far away from other major Las Vegas attractions on The Strip either.
The Luxor is a great value for the price. It may not be as flashy or new, but it’s one of the most affordable hotels in Las Vegas and worth considering if you want to stay within your budget.
Which is better at Luxor, the tower or pyramid rooms?
There are pros and cons to both the pyramid and tower rooms.
If you’re looking to experience something new, try staying in one of the pyramid rooms! The slanted windows and odd elevators are a fun experience.
The cheapest rooms are in the pyramid and may feel a bit outdated. But there are more modern offerings available too.
If you want something a little newer and more modern, book a tower room or suite. The towers offer more options, comfort, and bigger rooms without slanted walls.
Is Luxor or Excalibur better?
In our opinion, Luxor is nicer than its neighbor Excalibur. Both hotels are similarly priced and offer a similar quality hotel room. Luxor has a slight edge overall, but what really sells it over Excalibur is the pool.
There is a bridge and tram that connect the two properties. Because of the quick access to either property, your choice should come down to the amenities you want.
How much is a room at Luxor?
You can stay at this hotel for just $28, plus taxes and resort fees. It’s one of the nicest budget hotels in all of Las Vegas!
Luxor is one of the best budget-friendly hotels on The Strip if you’re looking for something that doesn’t break your wallet but still offers many amenities.
How tall is the pyramid in Vegas?
When visitors to Las Vegas stop by the Luxor, they are surprised at how tall it is.
For comparison, The Great Pyramid in Giza was originally 481 feet and today has been reduced to only 455 feet because of erosion. However, this hotel’s pyramid stands at a whopping 350 feet!
The hotel is home to the world’s largest atrium. Hotel guests are lifted at a 39-degree angle by their elevator. Once hotel guests reach their floor, they can peer into the atrium from the hallway.
Atop the pyramid is the Luxor Sky Beam, which uses 39 xenon lights with 7,000-watt bulbs to light up Las Vegas. The light beam has its own ecosystem as the light attracts bugs, bats, and birds of prey.
Does Luxor have a boat ride?
Luxor has been around since 1993, and in that time, they have had many great attractions.
One of these was the Nile River Ride which started at the front desk. Guests would board a barge and be guided through “ancient” artwork on their journey down the long river inside the pyramid-shaped resort.
Unfortunately, this attraction only lasted three years before being removed from its lineup of rides.

Our friends at 20dollartrick.com say that the $20 Trick works for three out of four hotel guests at Luxor! Most users report stories about receiving better room views, but some claim to have received a free suite upgrade instead.
