Las Vegas is a busy city with people coming and going from all over the world. With so many visitors, transportation in Las Vegas can be a challenge.

Fortunately, Las Vegas has plenty of transportation options for getting around town, whether you’re visiting for work or pleasure.

There are plenty of ways to get around in Vegas, from cabs to buses, limos to trains.

Here’s a closer look at the transportation options available in Las Vegas and how you can use them to get around.

Taxis

Taking a cab is the easiest way to get around Las Vegas. You can hail a cab from any of the major hotels and casinos. On The Strip and near the Fremont Street Experience, you cannot hail a cab from the street and must go to the nearest taxi stand.

Vegas taxis accept cash, credit or debit cards; all trips are metered. There is also an option for flat-rate transportation from the Las Vegas Airport to specific hotel destinations (see below) in Vegas.

Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail is a transportation system that runs along the east side of The Strip, and it makes nine stops between Sahara and the MGM Grand.

It provides direct access to some of the most popular attractions in Las Vegas, including The LINQ Promenade, Grand Bazaar Shops, and MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The Monorail is open seven days a week from 7 am to midnight.

Free Transportation On The Strip

MGM Resorts operates two separate trams on The Strip that are free of charge.

Mandalay Bay – Luxor – Excalibur Tram

On the south end of The Strip, The Mandalay Bay Tram has three stops. The free tram runs between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, stopping at Luxor in the middle. The tram runs daily from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM, with a train every 3-7 minutes.

Park MGM – CityCenter- Bellagio Tram

The other tram operates from Park MGM to Bellagio, with a stop in the middle at CityCenter (Aria, Vdara, and The Shops At Crystals). The free tram runs daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 AM. The tram arrives every 15 minutes, and the ride lasts about two to six minutes.

Mirage – Treasure Island Tram

A free tram between The Mirage and Treasure Island operates from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM every weekday and until 2:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Please note the tram does not use during inclement weather and routine maintenance.

Renting A Car

If you prefer to get around on your schedule, renting a car is an excellent transportation option in Las Vegas.

Rental cars can be found at the Las Vegas Airport. You may also find rental cars at your hotel, as many hotels offer car rentals on-site. Rates vary by company and type of vehicle.
